General Product Questions
What does KVS sell?
KVS sells vehicle-specific plug and play wiring harnesses and modules. Our product lines include headlight conversion harnesses, taillight conversion harnesses, exhaust valve delete and simulator modules, turn signal adapter cables, and other vehicle-specific wiring solutions. We do not sell headlight assemblies, taillight assemblies, or exhaust systems unless a listing specifically states otherwise.
Are headlights or taillights included with the harness?
Most products sold by KVS are wiring harnesses, adapters, cables, or modules. Unless a listing specifically states otherwise, headlight assemblies, taillight assemblies, and exhaust components are not included.
What does plug and play mean?
Plug and play means the harness uses factory-style connectors that connect directly to your vehicle's existing wiring. For products listed as plug and play, no cutting or splicing of the factory wiring is required unless the product description states otherwise. The harness sits between your vehicle's connector and the new light assembly.
Will any cutting or splicing be required?
Most of our products require no cutting or splicing. If a specific product has any exception to this, it will be clearly stated in that product's listing description. Always read the full product description before ordering.
Will any programming or software be required?
Programming is only required if the specific product page states it. If a product page does not mention programming requirements, do not assume it is required or not required. Contact us before ordering if you have a concern about your vehicle's module configuration.
Are these OEM parts?
No. KVS harnesses are aftermarket wiring adapters and conversion harnesses designed for OEM-style plug and play installation. KVS is not affiliated with any vehicle manufacturer.
Can I reverse back to my factory setup?
Most products can be reversed by unplugging the conversion harness and reconnecting the original factory wiring, since no cutting or splicing is required for plug and play products. Whether a specific product is fully reversible depends on its installation requirements. Check the product page for any notes on reversibility before purchasing.
Are your products vehicle-specific?
Yes. Every product KVS sells is designed for a specific vehicle year, make, model, and factory light type. Ordering the wrong harness for your vehicle or factory light type will result in a fitment mismatch. Always confirm your exact factory setup before ordering.
I am not sure which product is right for my vehicle. What should I do?
Contact us before placing your order. Include your vehicle year, make, model, trim level, and your current factory light type, such as halogen, HID/xenon, or LED. We can help review the information and point you toward the correct listing when possible.
Are both driver and passenger side harnesses included?
Yes. Unless a listing specifically states otherwise, each listing includes both a left side and a right side harness as a pair.
Fitment and Compatibility
How do I know if a product fits my vehicle?
Check the product listing carefully. Each listing states the specific vehicle years, makes, models, and factory light types the harness is designed for. Your vehicle and factory light type must match what is listed. If you are unsure, contact us before ordering.
What factory light types do your harnesses support?
Different harnesses are designed for different factory light types. Some are designed for vehicles with factory halogen headlights. Some are for factory HID/xenon headlights. Some are for factory LED headlights. You must match the harness to your specific factory light type. Installing the wrong harness for your factory light type will result in a connector mismatch.
How do I identify whether my vehicle has halogen, HID, or LED headlights from the factory?
The best way to identify your factory light type is by checking the connector shape, bulb type, product photos, window sticker, build sheet, or VIN information. If you are unsure, send us clear photos of the back of your current headlight or taillight connectors before ordering.
Does fitment vary by trim level?
Yes, in many cases. Different trim levels of the same vehicle may have different factory light types. For example, a base trim may have halogen headlights while a higher trim has HID or LED. Always confirm your specific trim's factory light type before ordering.
Will this work with aftermarket headlights or taillights?
Our harnesses are designed and tested for OEM-style light assemblies using factory connector pinouts. Aftermarket compatibility depends on whether the aftermarket light uses the same connector style and pinout as the OEM assembly the harness is designed for. If a product page specifically states aftermarket compatibility, that information is included in the listing. If it does not mention aftermarket compatibility, do not assume it. Contact us if you have a specific aftermarket light you want to install.
What if the connector on the harness does not match my vehicle?
Do not force the connection. A mismatched connector most likely means the harness does not match your factory light type, trim level, or model year. Contact us with clear photos of the back of your factory connectors so we can help identify the correct product.
What photos should I send if I am unsure before ordering?
Send clear photos of the back of your current factory headlight or taillight connectors showing all the wires going into each connector. Include your vehicle year, make, model, and trim level. This helps us review the information quickly.
Does the harness support BLIS or blind spot monitoring?
BLIS and blind spot compatibility is only confirmed if the specific product page states it. Do not assume blind spot function is supported unless that is clearly stated in the listing.
Does a conversion require a bumper swap or body panel change?
Some style conversions involve headlight or taillight assemblies designed for a different bumper opening or body panel than the factory configuration. Any such requirements are noted in the specific product description. Check the individual listing for fitment and body notes before ordering.
Headlight and Taillight Conversion Harnesses
What is a headlight conversion harness?
A headlight conversion harness is a plug and play wiring adapter that allows you to install a different style of headlight assembly onto your vehicle without modifying the factory wiring. For example, if your vehicle came with factory halogen headlights, a halogen to LED headlight conversion harness allows you to connect OEM LED headlight assemblies using factory-style connectors with no cutting or splicing required.
What is a taillight conversion harness?
A taillight conversion harness works the same way for tail lights. It adapts your vehicle's factory tail light wiring to accept a different style of tail light assembly. For example, it can help convert factory halogen tail lights to OEM LED tail lights without modifying the factory wiring.
What vehicles does KVS make harnesses for?
KVS makes harnesses for a range of vehicles including Ford F-150, Ford Expedition, Dodge Charger, Dodge Challenger, Dodge Durango, Chrysler 300, Ram 1500/2500/3500, Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Nissan Maxima, and others. Check the product catalog for currently available fitments. Not all model years or trim levels may be covered.
What types of conversions do you offer?
We offer harnesses for halogen to LED conversions, halogen to HID conversions, HID to LED conversions, HID to halogen conversions, LED to halogen conversions, LED to LED newer-style conversions, and halogen to halogen newer-style conversions. The specific conversion type for each product is clearly stated in the listing title and description.
Are headlights or taillights included with the harness?
No. The harness is a wiring adapter only. The headlight or taillight assembly you are installing must be purchased separately, unless a listing specifically states otherwise.
Will daytime running lights, turn signals, high beams, and other functions work?
Plug and play headlight conversion harnesses are designed to support the lighting functions described in the product listing. Check the specific product page for function coverage details, as this can vary by conversion type and vehicle. Do not assume all functions are supported without verifying the product listing.
Does the harness work with aftermarket headlights or taillights?
Aftermarket compatibility depends on whether the aftermarket assembly uses the same connector style and pinout as the OEM assembly the harness was designed for. If aftermarket compatibility is not stated in the listing, do not assume it is supported. Contact us before ordering if you have a specific aftermarket assembly in mind.
Resistors and Installation
Do the harnesses include resistors?
Many headlight and taillight conversion harnesses include pre-assembled load resistors. Whether resistors are included is stated in each product description. Resistors are used to help prevent hyper flash and bulb out warnings when converting from halogen to LED lighting by simulating the electrical load of the original bulbs.
Do resistors get hot?
Yes. Resistors generate heat during normal operation. This is expected behavior. Resistors must be mounted securely to a metal surface away from plastic, wiring, tape, carpet, rubber, or heat-sensitive parts. Do not leave resistors hanging loose. Improper mounting can cause damage and reduce their effectiveness.
Where should resistors be mounted?
Resistors must be mounted securely to a metal surface away from plastic, wiring, tape, carpet, rubber, or heat-sensitive parts. Choose a location that allows the metal surface to dissipate heat safely. Do not leave resistors hanging loose.
How difficult is installation?
Most KVS harnesses are designed for a straightforward plug and play installation using basic hand tools. Installation time varies by vehicle and connector accessibility. Exhaust valve modules are typically quicker to install than headlight or taillight harnesses, but installation time depends on vehicle access and setup. If you are not comfortable working with vehicle wiring, professional installation is recommended.
Do I need to disconnect the battery before installing?
As a general best practice for any electrical work, disconnecting the negative battery terminal before working with vehicle connectors is recommended. This reduces the risk of shorts during installation.
Are installation instructions included?
Basic installation guidance and fitment notes are included in each product listing description. Some products include additional written instructions in the package. If you have questions about your specific installation, contact us before you begin.
Troubleshooting
One side is not working after installation. What should I do?
First, check that the connector on the non-working side is fully and firmly seated. A partially connected plug is one of the most common causes. Next, swap the left and right harnesses to the opposite sides of the vehicle. If the problem follows the harness to the new side, the harness may be the source of the issue. If the problem stays on the same side regardless of which harness is plugged in, the vehicle wiring or the light assembly on that side may need to be checked. Contact us with your findings.
Both sides are not working. What should I do?
Check that all connectors on both sides are fully seated. Verify that the harness matches your vehicle's year, make, model, and factory light type. A common mistake is ordering a halogen harness for a vehicle that has HID headlights, or vice versa. If resistors are part of the installation, confirm they are mounted securely to a metal surface. Contact us with photos of your connectors and a description of what is happening.
I am getting hyper flash after installing LED tail lights. What should I do?
Hyper flash is caused by the vehicle's turn signal circuit detecting lower resistance than expected when LED lights replace halogen bulbs. If the harness includes load resistors, verify they are mounted securely to a metal surface away from plastic, wiring, tape, carpet, rubber, or heat-sensitive parts, and that all connections are fully engaged. Loose or improperly mounted resistors can reduce their effectiveness. If hyper flash continues, confirm all connectors are fully seated and contact us.
I am getting a bulb out warning or dash error. What should I do?
Bulb out warnings after an LED conversion are typically caused by the vehicle detecting a lower electrical load than expected. If the harness includes resistors, verify they are mounted securely to a metal surface and that all connectors are fully engaged. If the warning persists, contact us with photos of your installation and connector setup.
The lights are flickering. What could cause this?
Flickering is usually caused by a loose connector, a ground issue, or resistors that are not properly mounted. Check all connections and verify resistors are mounted securely to metal. Also check that the vehicle-side connector and the harness connector are fully locked together. If flickering continues, contact us.
I have a ground issue. What should I check?
Check that the factory ground connection in the headlight or taillight area is clean and secure. A corroded or loose ground will cause inconsistent lighting behavior. Clean the connection point and verify solid metal-to-metal contact.
The harness connector does not match my vehicle's connector. What do I do?
Do not force the connection. A mismatch usually means the harness does not match your factory light type, trim, or model year. Contact us with clear photos of the back of your factory connectors. We will help identify the issue and determine if a different product is needed.
What information should I include when contacting KVS about a problem?
Please include your vehicle year, make, model, and trim, your factory light type, the product you ordered, a description of the symptom, and clear photos of the back of your factory connectors and the harness connectors. The more detail you provide, the easier it is for us to review the issue.
Exhaust Valve Modules
What is an exhaust valve delete or simulator module?
These modules plug directly into the factory exhaust valve actuator connectors on your vehicle. When factory exhaust valve actuators are removed or bypassed, which is common with certain aftermarket exhaust setups, the vehicle's ECU may no longer detect the actuator signal and may trigger a check engine light. The module is designed to provide the correct electrical load signal to help prevent exhaust valve actuator-related check engine lights.
Does the module change the exhaust sound?
The module itself does not produce sound and does not change the exhaust tone on its own. Any change in sound comes from the exhaust system and the valve hardware modifications. What you experience is determined by the exhaust setup, not by the module.
What vehicles are the exhaust valve modules designed for?
KVS currently offers exhaust valve modules for the Chevrolet Corvette C8 2020–2026 and the Lamborghini Revuelto. Each product is designed specifically for vehicles equipped with factory exhaust valve actuator connectors. Check the individual product listing for detailed fitment requirements before ordering.
Are the modules sold as a pair?
Yes. Both the Corvette C8 and Lamborghini Revuelto exhaust valve modules are sold as a pair. One module per side, two modules per listing.
Is programming required?
Programming is not listed as required for the exhaust valve module products currently offered. Both are designed as plug and play solutions. Programming requirements will always be stated in the product listing if applicable.
Is cutting or splicing required?
No. Both modules are designed to plug directly into the factory exhaust valve actuator connectors without any modification to the factory wiring.
Are the modules reversible?
Because no cutting or splicing is required, the original factory valve actuators can be reconnected by unplugging the modules. Refer to the specific product listing for any additional notes on reversibility.
Are the modules weather protected?
Weather protection details are stated in each product listing. Always refer to the individual product description for protection details specific to your vehicle's module.
Will installing the module clear an existing check engine light that is already on?
The modules are designed to help prevent the check engine light from appearing when actuators are removed or disconnected. If a check engine light is already present before installation, you may need to clear the stored fault code using an OBD2 scanner after the modules are installed. The module is designed to help prevent the fault from reoccurring, not to act as a diagnostic or code-clearing device.
Why does the Lamborghini Revuelto module cost more than the Corvette C8 module?
The Revuelto module requires specialized connectors and components specific to the Lamborghini Revuelto's actuator system. Lower production volume and the cost of sourcing vehicle-specific hardware contribute to the higher price compared to a higher-volume application.
